The first Woolworths store was opened in Sydney’s Imperial Arcade, NSW in 1924. Needless to say, the brand has expanded rapidly since then. Shortly after its rival retailer Coles entered the insurance market, in 2011, Woolworths launched general and life insurance. Woolworths general insurance is underwritten by Hollard.

Woolworths Everyday general insurance is issued by Hollard. Operating in Australia since 1999, Hollard is part of the Hollard International Group and its parent company is IVM Intersurer BV, a Netherlands-based insurance business investment holding company. Hollard is the underwriter for multiple pet insurance products (Link), broker networks and general insurance.

As well as Woolworths Everyday insurance, Hollard is the underwriter of other general insurance brands and brokers, including: 

  • Commonwealth Bank
  • Real Insurance 
  • Steadfast.
